The Concord Fault

October 12 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

History, Geology, Plate Tectonic Setting and Earthquake Hazard By Martin Steinpress, PG, CHg (retired)

The Concord Fault cuts through the heart of the City of Concord and has been central to the city’s location and development. As part of the San Andreas Fault System, it also has a fascinating geology and forms part of the plate boundary between the North American and Pacific plates. What’s the risk of a damaging earthquake in the future and what preparations can we make? Come learn about our local fault and have your questions answered.

Martin Steinpress, MS, California Professional Geologist and Hydrogeologist (retired) is a Concord resident and had a 40-year environmental consulting career across California and the U.S. He has made numerous presentations to professional associations, regulatory agencies and the public and was a CSUEB geology lecturer. He regularly gives lectures and leads geology field trips for non-geologists.
