3rd Annual Auction/Dinner a success!

Concord Historical Society 3rd Annual Auction/Dinner Fundraiser

A grand success!

Some 150 CHS supporters along with 15 event sponsors topped the $60,000 mark at the year’s premier fundraiser, the 3rd Annual Auction/Dinner Fundraiser held at Centre Concord on Veterans Day, November 11, 2017. These funds are critical to the completion of the Concord Museum and Event Center.

The evening, under the theme “Hail to Our Veterans,” was dazzling in setting, socializing, dining, bidding, and recognizing our veterans. Following is some photographic proof for your pleasure.

Annual Dinner Meeting 2018

Concord Historical Society Annual Dinner Meeting – March 15, 2018

web Guests01 15Mar2018

This year’s annual dinner meeting, held at the Oakhurst Country Club, was well attended and high-spirited. Throughout the evening a series of pictures was projected showing the progress to date at the Concord Museum and Event Center, a topic of great interest and excitement.

President Lloyd Crenna also had the pleasure of sharing a miniature proof of the seven-foot statue of Concord founder Don Salvio Pacheco that will be unveiled at Todos Santos Plaza during 150th anniversary festivities on July 4th.

Kobayashi Eizo 15Mar2018LR

Once dinner and business had been addressed, we settled back for an engaging and insightful talk by Eizo Kobayashi. His presentation, “Life after the Internment Camp,” told his story, the story of a young Japanese-American man in post-WWII America completing his education, pursuing a career, and raising a family here in Concord.

Volunteerism: Fivepoint

“Thank you” to volunteers from Fivepoint

The Concord Historical Society wishes to express its gratitude to volunteers from Fivepoint who came out the morning of Friday, March 23, 2018, to prepare our Concord Heritage Center* for a new, steel fence. This energetic bunch under the leadership of Dennis Costanza, Fivepoint Director of Community Relations, removed the entire split-rail fence that ran around the site in under an hour!

Fivepoint is an important addition to our community. It is the Master Developer for Phase One of the Concord Reuse Project, covering 500 out of the total 2,300 acres to be developed at the former Naval Weapons Station Concord.

Welcome and thanks for taking an active interest in the Concord Historical Society and its mission to preserve and present Concord’s rich history.

* Concord Heritage Center refers to the campus including the Galindo Home and Gardens and the Concord Museum and Event Center.
